My favorite thing about my dad is how he always wants to make sure I'm okay. He's constantly asking if school is going well, if I'm feeling well, if I'm having fun. etc.
I loved coming to camp to drop off Lizzie and Melissa yesterday! THe camp itself is beautiful and the cabins seem so new and clean and comfortable. I hope the week goes well and nobody gets homesick or anything, smile.
When I dropped off the brothers of Lizzie and Melissa at home I talked with mom and dad for a little while. Dad has a huge garden outside and was explaining to me how he lets the plants grow a bit, then divides them and gets many more veggies out of the plants that way. He thinks he may have a surplus of tomatoes later in the summer so I asked if he would let me know. Fresh homegrown tomatoes are about the only vegetable I can honestly say I LOVE.
Are we still talking about Father's Day? Hmm, my dad is 81 and slowing down a bit but still sharp as a tack upstairs. He still corrects my mispronunciations and gives me hints on how to save money. Some things never change - love you, dad!

This is a BLOG (an online journal) from the Literacy Session at Camp Courage for teens ages 12-19, who are struggling readers. Our campers have a wide range of abilities and disabilites including developmental cognitive delay, autism, and learning disabilities. With the BLOG, we are practicing "writing without standards". Our goal is to get our campers writing and excited about doing it. We invite YOU to also post and provide models of what good writing looks like!

One of my favorite things about my dad is that he used to wake us up in the morning by singing. It always made me laugh!!
